RECAP: Pillow Fight Day

We'd like to thank everyone who came out for Pillow Fight Day 2013: Montreal - we had an amazing time and we hope you did too!

The weather Gods were with us (well, kind of) and the sun was shining in the only relatively frigid Montreal weather. Of course once pillows started flying, one only needed a t-shirt (or a Kigurumi!) to stay warm amidst all of the feathery mayhem.

A special thanks to: Wally from HighOnBeats.com for providing the music which added to the excellent vibes of the occasion; the overwhelming media presence filming and interviewing people at the event (although, clearly you should have put your cameras down and joined in, just saying); as well as Motel Raphaël for being awesome and including the pillow fight in their music video.

MONTREAL: Pillow Fight Day

We are excited to announce that we will be hosting this year's International Pillow Fight Day in Montreal!

Every year, massive pillow fights are held in cities around the world for International Pillow Fight Day. Those who've attended these events in the past know that they're tons of fun, and we're thrilled to be organizing this year's festivities!

    Held at Gatineau's Palais de Congrès, G-Anime (January 25th-27th, 2013) is Canada's only fully bilingual anime convention promoting Japanese animation, graphic novels, and culture. Halloween is fast approaching, and if you're thinking of donning a kigurumi onesie this season, awesome choice! Honestly, the best thing about kigurumi onesies is that they're not just flimsy costumes that fall apart after one wear - they double as just about the most comfortable PJs ever, and are 100% machine washable.

If you are hoping to receive your kigurumi onesie before the 31st, make sure you place your order as soon as possible! We cannot guarantee that styles won't sell out before the cut-off date. The cut-off dates for guaranteed delivery by standard expedited parcel are listed below for each province (please allow for an extra day or two if you live in a remote area).

Kigurumi Wash & Care Instructions

How does one wash a kigurumi onesie? Are they dryer-safe? Does anyone actually like doing laundry, anyway?

Washing

    If you're washing your kigurumi onesie for the first time, we recommend using the gentlest setting on your washing machine using cold water and any laundry detergent. This is to keep the fleece fluffy, protect the detailing on the face, and to prevent any dye from bleeding. For subsequent washes the colour should be set and you may use warm water if you wish. Fabric softener is optional.

    *NEVER use chlorine bleach on your kigurumi onesie. Non-chlorine colour-safe bleach is okay.

Drying

    We like to hang our kigurumi onesies to dry when we have the time, but they take more than a day to dry. If you are feeling lazier (or you just can't wait that long), you can use the gentlest setting (usually air dry/fluff air) on your dryer. What you want is the setting that uses room temperature air as opposed to hot air, which will promote shrinkage. Although not neccessary, dryer sheets will help prevent excess static on your kigurumi onesie (you can also just rub it down with a dryer sheet if you ever find it too staticky). To prevent wrinkles, try to take it out  of the dryer as soon as it's done and hang/lay it flat. 

    *NEVER iron your kigurumi onesie. It won't be pretty.

Other Tips

    Over time, you may notice a bit of pilling on your kigurumi onesie. If it starts bothering you, we suggest picking up a fabric shaver (we got ours for under $10 on eBay). They're super easy to use and they get your kigurumi onesie looking like new in no time.

Kigufest at Igloofest!

 It's been a snowy month here in Montreal, and we've been spending our weekends at Igloofest (think 10,000-person outdoor dance party) down at the Old Port. Even in the -20°C weather, we were warm and toasty in our kigurumi onesies (they even fit over our winter coats!). Here are some pictures from the event:
